Tai Chi for Parkinson’s

A recent review of Tai Chi and Qi Gong as a treatment for Parkinson’s indicates that the practices offer a promising complementary therapy in PD due to their unique approach integrating body, mind, and spirit.

The review states that the methods can be widely used in health care and in the treatment of specific functional dysfunctions, mainly in early and mild stages of Parkinson’s disease. It’s not news to us, of course, but good to have scientific evidence to back up what we see for ourselves.

We have participants with Parkinson’s in our Tai Chi and Daily Qi Gong sessions who tell us that regular participation has helped to improve their balance and co-ordination and they have seen improvement in freezing episodes and a reduction in tremor.
